NEPIRC Executive Director Highlights Regionally-Manufacturer Products During Career Days

Eric Joseph Esoda, Executive Director of NEPIRC recently highlighted the everyday products used by students and their families at several Career Day events throughout Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties. In total, over 300 students, ranging from 4th grade through high school Juniors, became more aware of the range of food, household, medical, construction and military products made across the northeastern and northern tier regions of Pennsylvania.

Younger students learned about a variety of food and drink products, pet items, paper products, household cleaners and personal hygiene products that are produced by regional manufacturers, while older students were introduced to Department of Defense, industrial and electronic products that are manufacturer regionally, as well as new manufacturing technologies in use by regional companies, such as robotics and additive manufacturing.

As part of the presentation, NEPIRC covers careers in Engineering, CNC Operations, Logistics and general Management. In addition to getting to “win” some of the products made in Pennsylvania as part of a “manufacturing quiz”, each student also received a “Keep It Made In NEPA” pin, sticker and pen as part of the experience.

NEPIRC team members are available to host additional Career Day or in-school events. Schools are encouraged to contact NEPIRC at 570-819-8966 for more information.
