Over 900 manufacturing professionals, including more than 30 from northeastern Pennsylvania, attended the national Manufacturing Innovation 2012 Conference in Orlando, Florida earlier this month. The 4-day event was designed, developed and hosted by the national Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Program and sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Alliance for American Manufacturing, the Association for Manufacturing Technology, PNC Bank, National Quality Assurance, the National Institute of Standards & Technology, FEDEX and a number of other strategic partners.
Attendees participated in over 75 technical and educational working sessions centered around three event tracks – Making Informed Business Decisions, Leading Innovative Organizations and Implementing Growth Strategies. Manufacturers also had the opportunity to participate in one-on-one matchmaking sessions with prospective OEM customers and tour a “Make It In America” exhibit that featured products from more than 150 domestic manufacturers, including over 20 with a presence in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The focus of the event was to highlight tactics, technologies, strategies and business models that can help U.S. manufacturers develop new customers, expand into new markets, create new products and, ultimately, provide new job opportunities within their communities. The underlying theme of the event was – in a word – INNOVATION.
Manufacturing leaders who were unable to attend the conference can still benefit from the outstanding world-class keynote presentations and share them electronically throughout their companies.
